Music Program

Music is an important part of worship and community life at First Christian Church. Our music ministry includes the First Christian Chancel Choir, the First Christian Ringers handbell choir, and other soloists, special musical guests (including a bluegrass band and the Owensboro Symphony!) throughout the year. Our repertoire embraces a wide range of musical styles, from contemporary anthems to traditional and gospel music. Each December, we also welcome musicians from the Owensboro Symphony for a special service.

We believe music helps us move in two directions: horizontally, connecting us with one another as we sing together, and vertically, connecting us with God as we offer our praise, thanksgiving, and petitions. Above all, our music ministry seeks to “sing out” the mission of First Christian Church, believing that music has the power to restore the soul, strengthen community, and occasion experiences of God.

Our Chancel Choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings following worship, usually finishing by 7:30 p.m. The First Christian Ringers, under the direction of Dr. Connie Ford, rehearse on Sunday evenings at 5:00 p.m. We welcome anyone who wishes to share in the joy of making music together.
