First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) returned home to its previous church location at 700 JR Miller Blvd after a fire destroyed the building we all dearly loved. We committed to staying in our neighborhood primarily because of the love and support we have felt from our many friends and neighbors. This is our home. This is a sacred space where we feel God’s presence.
FCC has always been much more than a building. We serve others and have continued our mission proudly for over 160 years. Now, we want to expand our mission and impact.
Through the generosity of the members and friends of First Christian Church, we have established the Legacy Endowment Fund to support projects and initiatives that make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
Individuals and organizations with a special need, project, or initiative that could benefit from financial assistance are invited to apply for a grant. We welcome requests that cultivate the human spirit, strengthen our community, and uplift others.
Grant requests generally not considered include:
- Fundraising events or sponsorships
- Pageants
- Sports teams
- Political causes, candidates, organizations, campaigns or lobbying
- Organizations or projects that discriminate against and/or exclude people on the basis of age, race, color, national origin, disability, religion or sex (including pregnancy, sexual orientation and gender identity).
The majority of the available funds will be allocated in the first quarter of the calendar year. To ensure full consideration, applicants are encouraged to submit their requests by January 15 of each year. During the review process, applicants may be invited to provide an oral presentation or additional information.
We are grateful for the opportunity to extend the generosity and spirit of First Christian Church beyond our congregation and into the broader community. Through the Legacy Fund, we seek to support meaningful needs, encourage initiatives that make a positive difference, and offer hope and encouragement to individuals and organizations working to improve the lives of others. By sharing these resources, we strive to put our faith into action, nurture the human spirit, and continue our church’s tradition of compassion, service, and caring for others.
