At First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), we offer two ways to participate in worship: in-person worship at 9 a.m. and live-stream on Facebook. A typical service runs about an hour long, during which we sing hymns, listen to the chancel choir an anthem or other special music, hear a sermon from one of our ministers, and partake in communion. Communion is central to our worship; all are welcome at the Table of Christ.
Children Worship & Wonder
We encourage children to be active participants in worship, but we also offer Worship & Wonder so they have the opportunity to interact with worship on their own developmental level. Worship & Wonder, a Montessori-influenced program, allows children to hear Bible stories and form responses from their own life experiences. They learn the meaning of church traditions and participate in hands-on worship practices through a story-telling teaching method. During the 9:00 a.m. service, children ages 3 through 2nd grade are invited forward for a prayer, then escorted to the Worship & Wonder room by the shepherd. Parents pick up their children from the Worship & Wonder room (located at the end of the first-floor education wing) at the conclusion of worship.
First Christian Café 10:00 a.m.
First Christian Café offers a wonderful opportunity for fellowship following the in-person worship service. All are welcome to gather in the Fellowship Hall for coffee, juice, and a light breakfast.
Sunday School 10:30 a.m.
Sunday school is offered for all ages. Parents can take their children to their classrooms on the first level of the education wing at 10:30 to be picked up by 11:30. Adult classrooms are located on the second floor of the education wing. For more information on adult classes, click here.
