Minutes of the Governing Board

April 13, 2010

 

Attendance:

Governing Board Members in Attendance: Nelda Barnett, Terry Brownson, Kristin Callis, Anne Carlisle, Nancy Conner, Amy Fredrickson-Wilkey, Wayne Goodaker, Flem Gordon, Marbrey Hedges, Ken Lawson, Janet Luckett, Lynn Mobley, Hilda Nance, Tab Quisenberry, Jason Roberts, Ron Waite, Carolyn Williams, and Suzanne Willis.

 

Other Members/Staff in attendance: Ginger Boehm, Shannon Divine, Gloria Goodaker, Mary Johnson, Jacob Kines, Francy Miller, Ginger Norris, Jason Pierce, and Ken Willis

 

Governing Board Members not in attendance: Sally Bryant, Cori Carter, Heather Newman, Steve Divine, Nathan Nunley, Sandy Roberts, and Katie Sterett.

  

Governing Board Meeting:

Chairperson Flem Gordon called the meeting to order at 6:05 PM. 

Elder Suzanne Willis opened the meeting with a prayer.

Minutes were presented for approval. Minutes were approved.

Quorum was established and noted.

 

TEAM REPORTS:

Worship:  Terry Brownson

  • Terry Brownson reported.
  • Reviewing compensation for fill ins.
  • On April 25th, 3 youth will be baptized.

Fellowship/Membership: Ron Waite & Hilda Nance/Larkin Hayden

  • Ron Waite reported for Fellowship
  • Cinch De Mayo celebration May 5th.
  • No report for Membership. 

Church Growth/Mission: Amy Fredrickson-Wilkey/Katie Sterett & Carolyn Williamson

  • Amy F-Wilkey reported for Growth.
  • The Church has had 69 adult visitors during last 8 weeks. The Committee has sent notes to all visitors with a known address. Please review list and fill in missing addresses.
  • Carolyn Williams reported for Outreach.
  • Earth Day Celebration scheduled for April 24th.

Education: Janet Luckett & Sandy Roberts

  • Shannon Divine reported.
  • Approximately 80 people attended the Easter Egg Hunt.
  • Youth Mission trip scheduled for July 3rd – 10th.
  • Earth Day Celebration scheduled for April 24th.

Finance/Stewardship/Property: Tab Quisenberry/Jason Roberts

  • Jason Roberts reported.
  • Lighting and sound system completed.
  • Insurance Company requested that a few repairs be made to improve safety. Repairs have been made.
  • Reviewing “Green Report”.
  • Tab Quisenberry reported for Finance.
  • The Finance report for the month of March and the year ending March 31, 2010 was presented to the Board. (modified cash basis)
  • Scheduled “Tradition of Giving Dates”.
  • Paid back a portion of the money borrowed from the Minister’s Housing Fund.

Minister’s Report – Rev. Kines

    • Discussed “how the Church is doing”.

Other Reports:

Elders’ Report – Ken Lawson reported.   Reviewing items discussed at the Discernment meetings. 

Deacon’s Report – No report.

CWF – No report

CMF – No report. 

Environmental Stewardship – No report.  

 

Search Committee

  • Kristin Callis reported
  • Motion from Search Committee and approved by Finance Committee. The Search Committee would like to extend an offer of employment as the Associate Minister responsible for Youth Services and Pastoral Care to Rebekah Krevens.   Board approved.

New Business:

  • The 150th Anniversary of the Church Committee is being chaired by Becky Gordon.

 

 Next meeting is Tuesday, June 8, 2010

Chairperson Gordon adjourned the meeting.  

 

Rev. Jacob Kines closed the meeting with a prayer.
