JUNE 2010 NEWS OF DISCIPLES WOMEN’S MINISTRIES

Thanks to everyone who participated in our May service project, providing gifts for Care Net Pregnancy Center. Women in both CWF groups filled baby bottles with coins and donated the money to CWF for Care Net. In addition to over $200 in cash, FCC members donated items such as the following:

            Baby clothes sizes newborn through 2T (new or gently used)

            Diapers sizes newborn through size 4

            Baby lotions, soap, shampoo, wipes, etc.

            Maternity clothes

            Children’s books

Anyone who wants to donate to this project can still take items to the FCC office; mark the container “CWF – Care Net” so that items will go to the correct place. You may give cash or checks to Marbrey Hedges, CWF treasurer. Make checks to “CWF” with “Care Net” on the memo line. 

Our service project for June involves collecting funds for our overseas mission, Haiti. Because shipping costs are high, sending a check for the total amount contributed will enable the recipients to purchase more items than we could afford to send. You may contribute at your June group meeting or give a check to Marbrey Hedges; make the check to “CWF” with “Haiti” on the memo line.

The generosity of FCC members continues to amaze our CWF women and others in the community. Be sure to read next month’s column, which will be CWF Treasurer Marbrey Hedges’ report of our income and outreach from July 1, 2009 through June 30, 2010.

Thanks to Francy Miller for her beautiful CWF bulletin board displays that continue to keep us informed about DWM at FCC.

All FCC women and their friends are encouraged to attend a Fall Retreat this year. Dates are October 16-17 at Barren River State Resort Park in Lucas, KY; October 23-24 at Jenny Wiley State Resort Park in Prestonburg,KY, and a silent retreat (limited to 15 women) November 12-14 at Knobs Haven Retreat House, Loretto, KY. Registration forms will be available in the FCC office. 

The Daytime CWF Group will have a meeting and potluck lunch at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, June 1, at FCC. The Evening CWF Group will meet at the home of Joyce Kirby, 2510 Windsor Avenue, at 7:00 p.m., on Thursday, June 3. Groups will not meet in July. Watch this column and The Caller for information about our annual brunch meeting in August.
