Minutes of the Governing Board
July 14, 2009
Attendance:
Governing Board Members in Attendance: Terry Brownson, Malcolm Bryant, Sally Bryant, Kristin Callis, Bill Conley, John Dejarnette, Steve Divine, Chris Gaddis, Wayne Goodaker, Flem Gordon, Larkin Hayden, Marbrey Hedges, Tom Maddox, Leslie Mobley, Lynn Mobley, Hilda Nance and Suzanne Willis.
Other Members/Staff in attendance: Angela Bruce, Mike Bruce, Anne Carlisle, Kaye Farmer, Gloria Goodaker, Rev. Jacob Kines, Janet Luckett, Sara Palmer, and Janice Pulliam.
Governing Board Members not in attendance: Cori Carter, Amy Fredrickson-Wilkey, Steve Ham, Teresa McKinley, Nathan Nunley, Tab Quisenberry, Jason Roberts, and Brad Webb.
Governing Board Meeting:
Vice Chairperson Flem Gordon called the meeting to order at 5:30 PM.
The meeting was opened with a prayer.
Minutes were presented for approval. Minutes were approved.
TEAM REPORTS:
Worship: Terry Brownson
Terry Brownson reported.
The Worship Committee met on July 7, 2009.
The Commissioning service for Rev. Kines will be held on Sunday, August 30th at 9:30 AM. There will only be one service that day. Sunday School will not be held. Jerry Lang will be officiating.
The Committee is working on the Advent Devotions Booklet.
The Committee will also organize a group to go to the Luther Luckett Correctional Complex.
Fellowship/Membership: Hilda Nance/Larkin Hayden
Hilda Nance reported for Fellowship.
The Committee met this month with 23 members in attendance.
Wednesday night dinners will begin on Wednesday, September 16th.
All Church Picnic scheduled for August 23rd at Legion Park. Festivities/games will begin at 4PM. Wendell Thompson’s group will be playing Bluegrass music. Please bring a dessert or vegetable. The Church will provide fried chicken.
Larkin Hayden reported for Membership.
The Committee sends cards to shut ins and prepares flower arrangements for our elderly each week.
Church Growth/Mission: Leslie or Lynn Mobley/Malcolm Bryant
Lynn Mobley reported for Growth.
No report.
Malcolm Bryant reported for Outreach.
The Committee is working on their quarterly newsletter.
Germantown Celebration was not well attended.
Habitat for Humanity will be building three houses at the end of August. Contact Ginger Carter or Carolyn Williams.
Youth Mission Trip was a success. Please attend our August 2nd presentation after late service.
Education: Chris Gaddis
Sara Palmer reported.
Vacation Bible School will start next week. Thank you to all the volunteers.
Family Camp scheduled for July 24 – 26.
Youth Mission Trip luncheon scheduled for August 2nd. Nikki Jorgenson will be in attendance.
Sara has accepted a position with the Hopkins County Board of Education. Her last Sunday will be August 2nd. The Board accepted her resignation.
